About Me
You could say the universe planned for me to be a creative, grounded, animal loving, socially awkward and a slightly OCD about detail person from the get go. I grew up in a little coastal village in Norfolk surrounded by nature, older siblings and a family who enjoyed a variety of hands on hobbies. Apparently by the age of three I was learning the basic sewing stitches and colouring within the lines.
It was a natural choice for me to pursue art and mixed media textiles at college / university, but it wasn’t until my mid 20’s and a mum of two that I discovered my gift for drawing animals and over the last two decades I have developed my own unique style and found the confidence to become a full time artist six years ago.
I enjoy exploring and researching the idea that Mother Nature communicates to us through animals via spirit guides and totems. I feel that explains why I don’t do a series of work, follow the trends of the most popular animal or even plan what I’m going to do next. I’m an artist without a sketch book, I just sit down and paint whatever animal I feel I have the most connection with on that day and when I go and research what that animal represents, it makes so much sense with what is happening around me. That connection happens again between my art and the buyer. Each individual piece has its own story to tell if you will only sit and listen xx
